About Cast & Cruise

We grew up on the water.

Cast Cruise started where we did — on the bays, beaches, and back creeks of Ocean County, New Jersey. Fishing off the dock before school, learning to drive a boat before we could drive a car, and spending entire summers on tubes, boards, and anything that'd get us out on the water. The water has always been home.

What we didn't grow up with was a straight answer on gear. Every time we needed a new rod, a reel, a tube for the kids, or an accessory for the boat, we'd hit the same wall: reviews that were either thin, obviously paid for, or written by someone who'd clearly never gotten the thing wet. Figuring out what was actually worth the money took way more time and trial-and-error than it should have.

So we built the resource we always wished existed. At Cast & Cruise, we test, research, and review fishing, boating, and watersports gear with one goal: helping families spend less time guessing and more time on the water. We're honest about what's great, what's overpriced, and what to skip — because the best day on the water starts with gear you can actually count on.

Whether you're rigging your first rod, outfitting a boat, or just trying to find a towable the whole family will love, we're here to point you to the good stuff. See you out there.

How we score

Every review uses 3–6 criteria chosen for the category. A reel is judged on different axes than a fish finder. Scores are weighted to the buyer, not the brand.

Where we test

Barnegat Bay and the Atlantic coast: real saltwater, real sand, real kids. If we can't actually test it, we say so and lean on documented data plus owner reports instead.

When we update

Reviews get a re-look at least once a year and any time a new generation ships. Updated dates are shown on every review.
